A Quick Ramble…. (or not so quick as it turns out)

Last night I received a text from a colleague asking me to recommend a book for someone who loved Twilight and wanted to know what to read next…my response was The Caster Chronicles By Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, or Fallen By Lauren Kate, Or Hush Hush By Becca Fitzpatrick – all of which are in my opinion – much, much better than the Twilight series.

The Text got me thinking about this blog, and how even though I love the above books, I have never blogged about them!!!

So today whilst sitting in the sun and updating my book list (see tab at top of page) I thought I’d give a quick run down of some of the books Ive read in the last few weeks and also along the way throw in some I read a while ago but feel are worth a mention…..

So I guess I should start with The Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl.
The series begins with Beautiful Creatures – Set In Gatlin County, we meet Ethan Wate, a boy who is haunted by dreams of a girl he has never met, a boy desperate to get out of Gatlin in search of something better.
We meet Lena Duchannes – a girl very different from any other girl in Gatlin – a girl Ethan is drawn to – a girl with a secret.
Ethan needs to know this girl, he needs to know why they have a connection…… And so it begins… Follow Lena & Ethan’s story through Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness & Beautiful Chaos – But I would get a wriggle on as Book 4 – Beautiful Redemption is scheduled to hit the shelves in October – And the Movie Scheduled to be released early next year!! This series is honestly one of my favorites and I for one cannot wait for the last book to see how it all ends!!

Next I will give shout out to Lauren Kates Fallen series.
Fallen, Torment, Passion (already out) Rapture – Scheduled for June release.
Official Blurb – “What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours? 17year old Lucinda Price falls in love with a gorgeous intelligent boy at her new school – Daniel….Only to find that Daniel is a fallen angel and they have spent lifetimes finding and losing on another as good and evil plot to keep them apart”

This series is a must read for any paranormal romance fans out there. Lucinda & Daniels story is on you will fall in love with!! ( my copy of Fallen, is literally falling apart as I find its a book I return to again and again)

And then we have Becca Fitzpatrick’s series Hush Hush – Comprising of Hush Hush, Crescendo, Silence – and awaiting publication – Finale – due out Autumn 2012.
Again another big series for Paranormal Romance fans.
Meet Nora Grey – and ordinary girl who finds herself stuck right in the middle of an age old war being waged between the immortals and those who have fallen – she must choose a side – but will her choice cost her her life?

So there we have it 3 series I think you should most definitely read, and as this quick ramble seems to be going on longer than i expected ill just quickly mention a few other recent reads that you need to go get….

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1) – Michelle Hodkin
Mara wakes up in a hospital with no recollection of how she got there. She had been in an accident, she survived, her friends did not. But Mara cannot recall any of it happening.
We follow Mara on her journey of discovering what really happened that fateful night and in discovering who Mara really is!!

This book, (especially if you have read and enjoyed the above titles) is a must read, the twist at the end left me shocked – cant wait to see what book 2 delivers.

Insurgent (Divergent #2) – Veronica Roth.
Fans of The Hunger Games will adore this series. I gave both books 5 stars – If these are books you do not yet own – I cannot stress just how much you need to get out there and get them.

Unraveling – Elizabeth Norris
Official Blurb
“Leaving the beach 17 year old Janelle Tenner is hit head on by a pick up truck.

And Killed

Then someone is leaning over her, healing her stopped heart. But if she was brought back to life, it must be for a very good reason.

That reason?
Unless Janelle can stop it happening the world is going to end in twenty three days.

The countdown has begun.”

A debut novel for Norris that will hook all sci-fi fans out there in the first few pages, and keep them hooked right to the end. Fast paced and well written, one to definitely keep an eye out for.

Thanks for popping by…till next time….toodles !!
